In 1974, Ed and Helen Lauer purchased the Super Thrift grocery store at the intersection of Mountain and Tick Neck roads with a vision of establishing a family owned & community based grocery store to serve the people of Pasadena. With the success of the first supermarket, the Lauers decided to expand to a second store and purchased the Acme Supermarket in Riviera Beach in 1982. Six years later, the original store was relocated to the Chesterfield location at the intersection of Mountain Road and Edwin Raynor Boulevard.

Today, Ed and Helen’s daughters, Bernie Snoops and Babbie Poyer, own and operate the supermarkets with that same vision in mind. Lauer's strives to provide customers with exceptional service and quality products, and is committed to giving back to the community that has supported us over the past four decades. We are honored to celebrate being a part of the Pasadena community for over 41 years.

Supporting the local community has been a part of our operation since the beginning.

Lauer’s is proud to give back to the community through Lauer’s Learning Ladder, which allows customers to donate a percentage of their grocery purchase to a local school of their choice. Through the Learning Ladder program, Lauer’s donates $40,000 annually to area schools determined by our customers. Lauer's has contributed over $1,000,000 to community schools since the introduction of the program in 1992.

Lauer's also participates in the Pasadena Business Association's annual Caring & Sharing Community Harvest Parade in November, an annual event that collects non-perishable foods to donate to local food shelters. Lauer’s provides customers with the opportunity to purchase food bags at cost to be donated to the cause, and matches the total donation of our customers. On a daily basis, we support requests from local schools, scouting groups, churches, sports teams, community organizations, senior centers, volunteer fire departments, veterans groups and many more organizations.
